Playa N’Gor
N’Gor Beach (Dakar) – this is an eye-catching, sandy beach, located near the center of Dakar (with fishing boats not far away). A small island facing the beach is a more popular destination for visitors here (reachable by small boat). Over the years, this beach has also attracted surfers. One tour outfit, Nomad Surfers (www.nomadsurfers.com) offers surfing excursions for visitors wanting to surf at N’Gor Beach, since it’s reputed to have the best surf in Senegal. Dakar Peninsula has a swell window ranging from the South East round to North – a surfer’s paradise. The best surfing months are from November to March – with the winter swells coming in from the north. The swells can be expected to be in the 2-10 ft range, offering good conditions for surfers of all levels. The August – October period has smaller yet consistent swells in the 3-6 ft range.
