National Gallery of Art (19 Av. Hassan II, formerly Av. Albert Sarrault (near the Kermel Plauteau market), Dakar), this art gallery, opened in 1983 by the then Senegalese President Abdou Diouf, exists to promote Senegalese artists. It also acts as the headquarters of the Dakar Biennial, held there every two years.
