Goree Island

Goree Island (Dakar): about twenty minutes by car from Dakar, this island, deeply rooted in the history of the slave trade. From the beginning of the 16th century until the middle of the 19th century, men, women and children gathered in this small piece of land, locked in cells before being sent to the New World. The Portuguese, Dutch, French and British took the island and all participated in the trade. Strong and canyons confirm the violent past of the island.
